Piero Dorazio (Rome, June 29, 1927 - Perugia, May 17, 2005) was an Italian painter, who with his painting has contributed since 1945 to the establishment of abstractionism in Italy.
Very young, in 1944, he met the abstractionist current of the capital and began a series of collaborations with its protagonists. Since 1945 participates as a leading exponent of the activities of the group Social Art. Together with friends Lucio Manisco, Mino Guerrini and Achille Perilli attended in the early post-war study of Renato Guttuso, but soon moved away from the thesis of socialist realism and joined the movement of abstractionism.
