Antonio Haupala was born in Mantua on November 25, 1956.

The interest he has always cultivated for art pushes him to approach oil painting as a self-taught; the passion for this pictorial genre will lead him to decide to abandon the legal profession in the meantime undertaken to devote himself full time to painting.

Solitary figures. Places populated by presences that remain extraneous and impervious to one another, to the other. In these spaces there is the inverse of a surplus: there is a deficit, a lack of presence even though the presence never fails. Solitude always calls for meditation, a certain intellectual activity or an attitude of expectation: the solitary is the one who thinks or awaits a sign, a call. The figure, alone with itself, forces itself to think, reflect and, consequently, feel its body, weighing its heaviness together with its life.
